The lid will remain open as long as there is an object in front of the sensor， and close gently five seconds after the object is removed. If a hand or object breaks the infrared beam between the lid and the sensor while it’s closing， re-triggering technology opens the lid again to prevent the lid from closing on your hand. Perfectly sized to accommodate any standard 13-gallon trash can liner.
